What is Cognatio?
Cognatio is a modern application for genealogical research and presentation. It is based on one of the most advanced data models of any genealogy application.
Cognatio comes in two version: The Light Edition is free. To unlock the additional functionality of the Standard Edition, you need a license key. A license key can be bought directly from the application itself for $25 (+VAT if applicable).
The Standard Edition is free for everyone who has previously bought a Cognatio license.

Ulrich Thoma has translated Cognatio into German. German language files are available for the following versions:
- 1.3.2
- 1.3.1
- 1.2.1
- 1.2.0
- 1.0.8 (with German help file, reports and additional reports)
- 1.0.7 (with German help file, reports and additional reports)
- 1.0.6 (with German reports)
If you want to run Cognatio in German, download the corresponding language file, unzip it and put it in the Cognatio application folder (usually "C:\Program Files\Cognatio 1.2.0"). Then start Cognatio and select Tools / Language.
Ulrich Thoma has also created additional reports that may be downloaded and unzipped in the application folder or wherever you want to keep them. You may access the additional reports from Cognatio by selecting Report / All Reports.
